Why was Okuri created ?

I have been working for years as a software developer and have been extremely disappointed with how most of software is made. Instead of a truly great product companies are pumping out useless features just to sell garbage. Quality and user needs were always last. So I wanted to create something good, something that has not been created before and would be appreciated.

I realised there are many apps made for hosiptals and patients, but nothing to manage what may come after - death. And then came the realisation that there are not many services that could handle the passing and all the related matters. Not everyone can keep a lawyer on retainer or easily find one when need arises. Nevermind the end of life, how would one deal with issues of personal estate? As such I made a choice to make a great software product that will connect users with needed professionals.

Why is it called Okuri ?

In Japanese Okuri means sending, passing or sending off, which relates quite a lot to the act of sending documetns back and forth. As a software product for managing estate we need to deal with a huge amount of documents, sending them back and forth, and to some other places. Also, Okuri can mean sending off, which relates to biggest issue in managing estate - passing.

Okuri is named in honor of "Okuri-inu" - a dangerous yokai (japanese spirit). It is good, because it protects the traveller from other yokai. However, the danger of Okuri-inu lies in its instintcs. If one were to misstep and fall, Okuri-inu would jump and ravage the person. I think it realtes quite a lot to legal system, because it is there to protect us, but at the same time it can downright destroy us when not dealt with properly.

Fun fact, if you do encounter the spirit of Okuri-inu and fall, pretend you are having a rest. Also bears mentioning, we do not eat our customers like the dangerous yokai. We are here to help.
